Considering the switch to IPS panels still feels uncertain. I want to minimize input lag, especially since I’m quite sensitive to it from playing fighting games on different TVs. Have anyone experienced any lag while playing DOTA on an IPS screen?
I believed TVs typically exhibited higher latency compared to monitors, likely due to the extensive image processing they perform.
It doesn't matter what else, What counts most is the speed you require—those 3ms or whatever timeframe matters.
I've enjoyed playing Dota on both my P2414H and XL2411z, both performing well. P.S. TVs are famous for their higher input lag. Response times don't really matter since they're not a universal standard. Also, it's hard to distinguish between an 8ms P2414H and a 1ms XL2411z.
I'm referring to the delay between pressing a key and the display updating, not the input lag. That value shows how long it takes for a pixel to change color, but doesn't affect how quickly the monitor shows images. Input lag is only relevant for specialized gear and isn't listed on any monitor's specs. In fact, modern IPS panels often perform better than TN panels in this area. High-speed monitors capable of over 120Hz usually have the lowest input lag. Most TVs suffer from additional processing steps unless they have a dedicated gaming mode, which works best when connected to a PC via HDMI, DP, or DVI.
