I recently started testing AMD DVR/GVR to evaluate its performance as a video recorder during open beta. It seems to work reasonably well overall. However, I’m experiencing a discrepancy in recording speed—when playing games like Battlefield 3 at high settings, I get 70–90 FPS, but the recorded video shows 45 FPS. When I switch to recording, it matches the FPS, yet the video properties display 60 FPS instead. Could this be related to my hard drive or the software still being in development? Has anyone encountered a similar issue? I’m also aware of the workaround you mentioned for uploading 60fps videos to YouTube, which looks fine at 45fps but isn’t as sharp. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

There should be an option in the menu for choosing recording resolution and framerate. If not, it might be a bug since the software is still in beta. It’s unlikely the issue is with your hard drive. Where’s your SSD?

Sure, I capture at 1080p with 60 frames per second and about 10MB per second, though the actual rate drops to 45 FPS. I ran out of funds, so I need to get a list.

Content usually shows fewer than 60 videos despite recording at that setting. Consider increasing the bit rate to 50MB/s and check for improvements.

I didn't see it work. The frame rate stayed between 45 and 50 but never reached 60. Still, I can use Mirillis and get 720 at 60fps. I've got the latest update, tried increasing the bitrate with no big change. I'll keep using Mirillis Action until it works.

Usual high-quality HDDs usually can't exceed 30 frames per second at 1080p resolution.

It seems the issue lies elsewhere—Shadowplay works well without a large hard drive for smooth 1080p at 60 frames per second, which is great news. Still, it's a bit let down that it doesn't need a high bit rate.

Bitrate matters a lot, especially with YouTube's encoding. Recording at 720p works just as well if it comes from a lower resolution. The difference isn't really perceptible.

Absolutely correct, the video quality on YouTube often matches or exceeds expectations at different resolutions. You can view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vNRQvt6T6E
