Activating XMP essentially forces the memory controller to perform more work than it would at approved speeds, which is why XMP RAM modules aren't always reliable. (Except for the most advanced kits.) You don’t need to boost your CPU’s clock speed to run smoothly with 4000 CL14, or any other XMP or speed configuration—your processor can stay at its default settings.
