Two years prior I got a Mad Catz M.O.U.S. 9. It was my first mouse with macro features, so I used every button with the software and created shortcuts to close tabs quickly. Occasionally I experience a blue screen after closing Firefox using the close-tab shortcut. At first I thought it was Firefox’s issue, but three months ago I moved to Chrome and the same problem still happens occasionally. Could this be related only to the software? If you know how to resolve it, let me know; otherwise I just want to confirm if it's a software problem or something else. System: CPU i5 3570k, Motherboard Asus P8z77, V-LK RAM 16GB (2x8GB), GPU AMD Radeon 7850 2GB, Case Antec Nine Hundred, Storage OCZ Vertex 3 Series 120GB; Seagate Barracuda 1TB, WD Green 3TB PSU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, OS Windows 7 Ultimate. My drivers are up to date. MOUS9_Mouse_7_0_29_22_x64_Drivers and MOUS9_Mouse_7_0_29_22_x64_Software.

A software issue can trigger a blue screen. Yes, programs and drives often cause this problem. You can search for the blue screen error online, as it usually indicates whether the issue is linked to drivers or hardware faults.

It's feasible, but I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Software can trigger a blue screen?
Or is it more accurate to ask, "Can software cause blue screens?"

The distinction lies in phrasing: one mentions general software causing issues, while the other specifies a particular software.

Yes, a software issue can trigger a blue screen, even if it isn't explicitly stated.

I don't understand the full context, but the correction suggests clarifying the meaning. It implies the original statement needs adjustment to avoid ambiguity or inaccuracy.

The rule for words ending in "ware" can be a bit unclear. Generally, it's best to treat them as plural unless context suggests otherwise. For example, you'd say 'a piece of software' or 'software applications.' Using 'AN software' isn't standard, and it's worth noting that 'software' doesn't start with a vowel sound in most cases. This guidance is mainly from English usage, though similar patterns exist in other languages.

search for the error code online. if a dump file is available at C:\Windows\Minidump, use tools like "who crashed it" to look up the issue.
