Which board are you working with? On certain boards you can store BIOS settings into a file. Switch to the BIOS settings, go to advanced mode, and then open the tools tab. If the function is available in BIOS, you can refer to this guide: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1046388/. The guide isn’t fully complete—please also mention saving to file or a specific drive.
I take photos or remember them from memory... it's tough to keep track of RAM timing. My board doesn’t offer export options, and it’s odd we didn’t have this standard back in 2022...
I believe this has existed for quite some time. There seems to be a way to save bios settings to a file on my p5q, but things like 14 years old haven’t taken advantage of it because the BIOS is so basic I can simply snap a photo of all the configurations. Even RAM timing details aren’t too complex since there aren’t many entries in the BIOS. It might be handy when experimenting with BIOS modifications and making some changes to my p5q (such as flashing a Deluxe BIOS onto it using a 2MB chip from my P6T Deluxe). However, I think it’s too cumbersome to just plug it into a USB drive since there aren’t many settings. The Giga EP45 could possibly benefit from it, but I haven’t seen that feature on that board and half the entries I have are unclear because there are so many of them—so it works fine for 540+ FSB. Personally, I’d just take a photo unless you’re tweaking proper RAM overclocking (which really tunes all the timing details). Then you’d likely have those saved automatically, still fine for most systems, though if you want more control you could autoedit and keep only a few settings.
