My partner and I are discussing if it's normal to use "R" as a command key. I don’t back it. What’s the point of holding down that key in games like Minecraft?

The reference is about using SHIFT during sprints. If you don't need to hold a key in MC, you can double-click the W key.

PC games offer flexibility by letting you assign actions to any key you choose. Since I don’t often play PC games, I find it hard to use CTRL and Shift for typical commands, so I usually create my own mappings instead.

For me, it works if it's just one tap, not holding down. There are many options to adjust settings.

Certainly... it's distinct, though I suppose a button press might have been intended as "humane."

In Minecraft, I rely on R for sprinting but have enabled a setting where you press the key once to turn it on and must press it again to turn it off. For stealth, I prefer C instead of Shift.
