Hi there! That Macbook you mentioned is quite old—2008 with a Core 2 Duo and just 2GB RAM. It’s still running El Capitan, which shows it handled its time well. People often say Mac OS X is known for being lightweight and efficient, especially on older hardware. It’s not just about low requirements but also smart optimization. If you’re planning to set up an OS X VM, you’ll likely find it manageable even on modest systems.

my asus t101ha runs smoothly, which is quite impressive. it's not about the operating system, but rather avoiding a constant buildup of startup applications and unnecessary features.

Super refined design. Apple understands the hardware they use and limits it to approved models. With just a few CPUs, GPUs, and motherboards, OSX developers can achieve great optimization.

It's hard to avoid the situation where unnecessary files accumulate during startup, leading to the frequent debates about Windows Vista versus MacBook in 2007-2010.

Vista served as a clear illustration of the pitfalls of poor operating system tuning.

Vista wasn't too bad after all; it ran smoothly thanks to the frequent startup programs, though it wasn't widely adopted for that reason.

Generally, the system runs quite well even with limited resources. Two gigabytes of RAM allow for more functionality than expected, and most Linux setups perform adequately with half or less. The virtual machine isn't worth the hassle—you’d need a specialized VMware patch just to get it running. Once operational, it runs slow and is prone to instability. I gave it four cores and six gigabytes of RAM using an SSD, but optimization didn<|pad|>’s better off avoiding extra services and gadgets. Microsoft seems to have learned from this experience, especially with Windows 10.

Back then, the technology wasn't mature enough either. It's rare to see so many devices receiving such quick RAM upgrades...

Windows Vista was the sole operating system to run more smoothly with universal theme patches. Also, a blue screen every day prevents productivity.
