In FPS games I rarely focus on anything outside my target area (since I can’t aim at anything else). The crosshair shift and field of view changes are designed to boost performance by utilizing your side vision when playing on a screen, meaning everything stays in the periphery.

Never experienced any problems, and it doesn’t affect me. Usually, I understand the game’s direction when it tells me to aim.
