It's surprisingly the most popular MMO ever, even drawing attention from top streamers. I've been playing for around 10 hours now and still feel a bit unengaged. The platform sees huge numbers of viewers on Twitch. What makes it so successful?

This game stands out because it blends unique RPG combat with character development, all wrapped in an MMO framework—something rarely seen before. Many players focus on the endgame, but the story and progression feel more engaging. The PvP scene looks solid based on what I've watched. I initially downloaded it but was disappointed by the character creation system and the gender-locked classes, so I removed it. If they address those issues, I might give it another shot. Note: The game has been available in Korea for at least a couple of years, meaning it likely had more content and quality when it first launched.

I don't necessarily dislike it. Perhaps that's why it works. The outcome might be preferable. It seems like the bigger picture isn't as significant as it appears. Probably we'll find out later.

Most roles are strictly limited to one gender. Creating characters like a female paladin or a male mage isn't feasible.

Well there's also only one race (human), so... As is the case with many Korean MMO's, the character creator goes quite in-depth in terms of being able to sculpt an uncannily beautiful face. But the options are somewhat limited in more functional ways.

There certainly is a fair amount of activity, but so did New World when it was erm, new. Part of the difference might be because Lost Ark is "free". Curiosity got the better of me and I tried it out for a couple hours. I also don't get the appeal myself, but that might be enough to get more people to try it, and some of it sticks. Now, the bigger question might be if it has staying power.

It was released or adapted by Amazon game developers. This likely accounts for the high number of streamers joining, similar to how New World performed upon its debut.
