I use VLC and I convert to MKV rather than MP4 since MakeMKV is free when in beta. I also wondered if MKV was better than MP4—I checked AnyDVD for ripping, but it doesn’t let me skip the extras.

You're using an SSD and have purchased an AnyDVD HD key a while back, but haven't used it. You're currently re-running the same Game of Thrones episode to check for recurrence. Great caution! I can notify you once the ripping is complete if you'd like.

I also used AnyDVD HD with HandBrake, and it performed excellently. No issues at all!
