We aim to complete this activity four times each year. The team size varies between seven and fifteen members.
They exist now thanks to flexible matchmaking in games and faster internet connections compared to old LAN days. It’s convenient to share your setup instead of traveling to someone’s place, and voice chat makes it easy to stay connected while playing. I don’t think they’re perfect, but I really enjoy them. Recently, I had a session with two friends who brought their own PCs and PS4s, and we all played Fortnite together.
I believe they're still around. With gaming laptops and reliable internet plus 4-port routers, organizing things is now simpler. It feels similar to having friends over for console games, except you play on weekends with more options. I haven't attended smaller LANs before—my brother has done both desktop and laptop setups, while I've only been in a few local LANs recently, mainly with desktops and once with a laptop. My work schedule has made it hard to attend, so I mostly follow events via streams and social media.
