The idea of LAN parties remains popular, though many have shifted toward online gaming. People still gather for local play or events, but the trend leans more online. Power setup questions also arise—do you need multiple outlets per room?

I'm heading out this weekend with some buddies, so it feels like a regular hangout. Sure, it might not be as intense as a LAN event, but it's still fun.

It's called a LAN party in name only; most gatherings happen online even when people are at home.

We recently played a 10-player ARK LAN about a month ago and are considering organizing another session soon.

Technology certainly made a big difference. For those who face challenges, remote interaction remains possible through online games or servers.

You can still bring friends over to enjoy the game, but it’s becoming rarer on PC. Most people now favor online play instead of moving a computer around.

I’ve set up three player sessions at home with my wife and brother-in-law. In the past, I’ve also played smaller-scale console and PC games with friends. My most memorable session was about eight to ten people playing Halo 2. Online gaming remains enjoyable, but creating a social atmosphere feels more rewarding.
