Yes, I've used Windows 10 before.
I've been using it since its release and I'm really impressed with it. However, since Microsoft won't allow me to keep it, it seems they're not encouraging continued use. Still, Linux is set to dominate soon, so that's okay. The main thing I hate about Microsoft is that they charge for their OS even though it doesn't offer any real advantages over other platforms. While a free upgrade exists for Windows 7 and 8, it only lasts a year before you need to purchase it again—possibly cheaper—but by then the excitement around Windows 10 will fade, and many will switch to Linux. Right now, Microsoft's only advantage is compatibility; its support for almost every program and driver is why it remains so popular among consumers. But Linux is catching up, with more programs added regularly and Wine helping fill gaps. Sooner or later, AMD might back Linux as a gaming platform, especially if their RX 300 series performs well. While I personally enjoy Windows 10 for its speed and simplicity, its outdated business model is a major concern. It's time for change if we want the software to stay relevant.
Windows 8 shines even more with a customizable start menu <3
I've been using it since it came out. First in a VM, then on a real PC. It works well, before version 9926 it was mostly 8.1 and 7, now it's changed a bit. I don't mind the new taskbar, but the settings on PC are much better. It's a solid operating system.
I put Windows 10 on my old Samsung NC10 notebook. After the update, it felt great to use. The device has just 1 GB of RAM and a 1.6 GHz Atom chip, but it runs much smoother than I thought.
@ Charlie Clarke, have you seen any issues with the "bugs" Microsoft mentioned? Anyone else had similar experiences?
I've tested two versions so far, but it's frustrating to notice none of the expected improvements appear. The beta builds perform poorly, consuming a lot of resources. Most of my time is spent reading, suggesting fixes in the WinFeedback app. It seems like the only thing running smoothly is Windows 8.1. I don't use Cortana or the Windows Store; the Start menu feels outdated and clunky, worse than any third-party custom start options I've tried. I dislike white text everywhere, the icons, and the tray notifications. Removing search from the Start bar is a hassle. The interface feels like a strange mix of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Win10 just seems like a weird evolution of those older versions. I’m okay with the free version but unsure why I’d upgrade to fix registry issues, disable apps, and clean up everything. There really aren’t any standout features.
