It seems the thermal paste recommendation was correct, though it shouldn’t impact performance significantly if it wears off during the day. The surface appears to have been roughened or sanded in some areas.

At first, I considered using thermal paste, but I vigorously applied it with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol, and it didn’t seem to stick away.
