Hey everyone, I need to mention that my system has 48GB RAM, but only two channels are visible—likely because my motherboard is AM4 and only supports dual-channel. Channels 3 and 4 are being used, while the other channel is definitely active, as confirmed by an error message. I’m thinking about using one of the kits for an NVMe SSD or extra VRAM, maybe even as a backup. The 32GB kit is a 3200MHz G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x16, and the other is a 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX at 2400MHz. If this isn’t worth it, I’m not sure what’s a good use for it. A quick note: many of you probably went through something similar this morning—downloaded Valorant, the anti-cheat was smooth, and I remember hearing some big talk about it during the beta. After reading an article, I’ve removed all Riot games software and reinstalled Windows. How likely is it that this anti-cheat actually works as claimed? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to read!
What went wrong? You asked if reducing RAM speeds helped. The system already handles that; excess RAM is already utilized for disk caching, and using it this way is just as slow as using VRAM. It’s better not to rely on this approach.
Head straight to the 2x16GB units, the 2x8GB bundle isn't great. AM4 supports dual channels well, and the 4 sticks work smoothly.
ok fair enough, I figured it is worth asking haha. I shoulda asked prior to installing lmao. sorry about the mad off topicness of my posts, but literally just got delivered a hyper 212x (don't really want to discuss why publically ... pm i guess?) is the hyper 212x going to perform better than a h7 cryorig?
You're facing an issue somewhere—possibly a bad motherboard, insufficient RAM, or even a faulty operating system. That's not the usual scenario. All four RAM slots should function together, and each pair of slots of the same color when filled should work as a dual channel. To make progress, you need to ensure the remaining slots are operational. If you can share the specific error message, it would help a lot. Otherwise, it seems resolved—no need to stress.
