When I launch Google Chrome, all four cores on my Athlon 860K increase to 100% until the page finishes loading. I've reinstalled Chrome before, but it keeps doing this. Firefox behaves differently, with cores staying at about 50-60%.

It depends on the extensions you're using. Certain ad blockers can consume significant resources.

My system doesn't have a G3258, but I'm playing GTA 5 on a SSD. That should help prevent issues.

This performance is typical for Google Chrome, which is designed to maximize resource usage for speed. It fully utilizes the 4790K with all eight threads at 100%, achieving quick results—about a tenth of a second.

Works perfectly with everything I own (Sempron 3500+, Athlon 7850 BE, Pentium E5300, Core 2 Duo SP9400, Core 2 Quad Q6600, G3258).

Also observed that fetching web pages raises CPU consumption significantly as well (it decreases afterward). This pattern seems typical, for example, since refreshing a page increased CPU usage from 35% to over 70%.
