Hey! I'm feeling pretty bored right now since the internet setup is still pending. To pass the time on my PC (Intel HD Graphics 630), I decided to try some old-school single-player FPS titles that run smoothly with decent graphics. I’ve played a bit of Overwatch and the campaign in Battlefield 3 before. If you're not into shooters much, here are some alternatives: COD4: MW is a solid choice, and other options include older titles like Half-Life 2, Doom, or even classic first-person shooters that fit the specs. Let me know if you want more suggestions!

I enjoy the classic shooter Battlefield 1942, though back then it was pretty rare to find others playing online—only around ten people at most. I also don’t like Call of Duty or the story mode versions.

1942 and CoD4 seem to be top choices, likely considered outdated now

I experienced BF 1942 running and being playable on a Pentium III with a 1000+Voodoo 2 SLI and 12MB RAM under Windows 98SE, which means it feels quite outdated now. Note that I might have chosen a slower PIII, but only around the 1.4GHz Athlon/PIII/Athlon mark where Voodoo 2 wouldn't be limited. Edit 2: Any DirectX 9 or earlier titles should work smoothly at 60fps and 1080p on the HD630.

The games I recall from when they were released feel more recent than I think, especially since GameCube and PS2 seem to overlap in my memory.

If a 1998 Voodoo2 in SLI handles a game under 98SE, it shows impressive performance—especially since such games often struggle to launch—and it proves that quality doesn’t always depend on age.
