They're still around, maybe just not showing up as often. It could be that I'm being too selective or something. Since getting into PC gaming, it feels like fewer titles fit my taste for relaxed storytelling and gameplay. I've been enjoying a variety of games such as Civilization, wargames, and sandbox titles like Garry's Mod and Terraria. I'm looking for something that lets me unwind while staying engaged. Any suggestions? What makes you recommend?
Have you experienced Witcher 3? It's priced at $50 with all the DLC included when it's discounted. I've invested about 200 hours on it. The story is compelling and the visuals are outstanding. I haven't tried the DLC yet, but it looks promising. It turns out it doesn't work on Linux... Life is tough. The other adventure game I've spent a lot of time on is Mount and Blade. It's an older title. I'm not sure why I enjoy it so much—maybe it just fits my preferences. Even though it supports Linux, you'll likely run into some issues. There are discussions about it on their forum.
I intended to mention warband is available natively, yet it seems quite different from the game itself.
Can't say for sure if it runs linux but you could check it out. Suggest the Mass effect series if you want cool storylines. Sure they are a bit older but very great. And the upcomming new one might be something to looking forward then. The Witcher serie is also a nice one. Both offer in depth story lines and options to explore and are overall well playable. Since we are talking old stuff: A jump back in time can deliver sometimes nice pearls if you can look past old graphics. On GOG.com you can get all kinds of older games for not to much cost. A real fun game to just play and do silly things is Dungeon Keeper 1. DOS/windows 95 era, but slapping imps and fight with all kind of demons is fun what I revistid every now and then. Wargames you want do less, but I guess then you heard about Command and Conquer. The original Westwood ones are very great with interesting story lines. Way better then the crap EA made. I personally like Red Alert 2 best, allthough many choose only decent EA one Generals as best. But the original C&C and Red Alert are what made the series great. After Generals it was all downhill so don't recommend those
I've got Steam set up with POL, and it worked for me. At $9.99 I'm trying it out. I'll update you on the results. Appreciate the help!
Checked out the demo for Warband, want to give it a try first.
It's late but I've enjoyed it a lot. I'm sure I'll attempt the second one when the opportunity arises.
