you’ve received a decent old computer you’re keeping at home. it’s been running smoothly on Steam for a while now. the main point is that it’s working, but Steam isn’t allowing me to log in. you might need a different account for each machine, and possibly logging out from one before accessing another. check if there are any settings or restrictions in Steam that could be causing this issue.

One Steam account may work on the first computer, but not on the second. You're allowed to use a single Steam account across multiple devices, though only the account linked to that device can stay active.

Your Steam account may be accessed from multiple devices, but only one device can be active at any given moment. For instance, you cannot play a game on one machine while someone else uses it with your account.

It's possible to remain logged in across different locations for years, allowing seamless streaming. Playing from multiple sites isn't allowed, though the client remains accessible wherever you are.

You can stay online using two computers with one account. It’s possible to play the same game at the same time on both devices, though that depends on the platform. Don’t worry—my experience was similar to yours from consoles, but once I tried it, everything worked smoothly on the same network without any problems!

You can run two games together without any issues. Just check if your setup allows it, like with Steam.

Steam permits just one player per game, even though multiple users can access the same account.

Sure, most of what you said is accurate. You can definitely use several computers with the same account. Remote play sounds interesting, though—it might be a bit limiting.
