I don’t have extra CPU power, so I can’t upgrade the motherboard to support it

Consult the maker regarding updates. Boards produced after the 5000s launch typically include refreshed bios.

The board was likely bought recently. If not, AMD provides a fix: their support page has details on updating via a CPU loan.

Check the packaging for a Ryzen 5000 sticker on the box if you purchase it in a store.

Depends on how old the board is. I got a Asus Strix B550i when i bought my 5600x and that needed a bios update. luckily my board supported bios update without CPU. Do you have a x570 board at the moment? if not loko for aboard that has the sticker or has an option to update bios without CPU

Yes, there are boards that don’t require frequent updates and aren’t extremely costly.

Search for a board with the bios flashback capability. Check the IO on the motherboard in pircures for a USB port with a small black button. Install the latest BIOS version on that USB, press the button and the board updates itself automatically. This works because you only need to connect the board to power, not the CPU or RAM. It won’t boot during installation; it uses the chipset’s CPU and memory. Note: Manufacturers define this feature differently—Asus refers to it as bios flashback. Which board are you examining? A B550 is probably sufficient, and many of them feature bios flashback.
