I've been using Windows 10 for about eight hours now and I really enjoy it. While tidying up my room, I can yell at Cortana and request any music I want from my collection—just play anything on my computer or what you like. Earlier, I was gaming with a friend on BF4 and had a disagreement. Because my laptop stays right by me, I just asked Cortana, and she responded instantly without me needing to look away from the screen. Although it's still early days, in just eight hours I've already seen how much it has transformed my computer usage.

Hey, it seems like Cortana isn't responding at all.

The future isn't here today, and Cortana isn't functioning for me.

To activate Cortana (especially if you're in Australia), adjust your settings to match the USA or English preferences. Restart the device, and she should function properly. Keep in mind that Cortana can display biased views.

You've actually activated Cortana's voice? That's not what I needed.

I dislike how "Hey Xbox" was added to the 360 long before 8.1 ever came along.

Yeah I love W10 as well, no problems whatsoever, and Cortana works like a charm, I tell her to remind me of stuff like when I'm playing she reminds me when to get the food out of the oven, and when I have to stop playing so that I have time to go to work, so I don't just loose track of time and miss the bus or anything like that!

I was going to post the same thing but if you read the OP it seems what he's asking is more "Is this how we'll be interacting with our computers in the future?" which is a valid question. On topic: I haven't got W10 yet (Waiting for my wave still! :<) but with my set up I don't think I'd get much use out of it personally as I don't have a Mic connected to my computer. I have a headset with a mic but barely use it since I have speakers. Maybe this will be a reason for people to buy decent desk mics or something so they can use Cortana, it'll be interesting to see if that becomes the norm.

Make sure Cortana is set to always respond to your commands. You should have the top press mic icon available.
