I was thinking about upgrading my GPU to a GTX 970. However, since the ACU just released requirements and the game recommends the GTX 780, which offers similar performance without a big drop, I’m weighing the options. Using the GTX 970 as a reference, I wonder if upgrading makes sense given the game’s graphics needs. On the other hand, PS4 seems like a solid alternative—despite its lower specs compared to the GTX 680, it handled Crysis 3 well at 720p with minimal issues. The PS3 managed that on a system with just 256MB of VRAM, so performance wasn’t a major concern. I’m trying to decide and would appreciate some advice before making a choice.

I’d score around 970, it’s not the only title you’ll play on your PC, so it’s definitely a good investment. I wouldn’t bother with Ubisoft’s current requirements—they’re a bit off lately.

Absolutely, you seem to have strong feelings about Ubisoft. That’s understandable!

It seems like you're questioning something, but it might not be well phrased. Could you clarify what you mean?

Consider a 970... Perhaps hold off until the 8GB releases come out. They were just announced.
