Hello! Your ASUS B250 motherboard supports Thunderbolt 3 on most modern systems. The information about compatibility with Z270/Z170 chipsets is outdated—current motherboards typically cover a wider range of ports and standards. Your I7 7700 setup looks great, so you should be able to use Thunderbolt 3 without issues.

According to my understanding, Thunderbolt add-in cards need particular BIOS support on the motherboard as well as a specific header on the board. The Z170 isn't necessary—just a board that supports it, including newer models and some AMD boards. I check this occasionally, but it seems most TB cards can't fit in any standard motherboard.
