It needs to explicitly state SLI compatibility to function properly. NVIDIA verifies the motherboard ID, whereas CrossFire works with PCIe 3.0 x4, but NVIDIA requires an x8 minimum, meaning CrossFire isn't possible if that condition isn't met.

the strix f can accommodate two pcie slots running at x8, though its documentation doesn’t reference sli, and the chipset itself doesn’t support sli either. it’s probably not worth the effort.
