I broke something on my motherboard, yet the computer functions fine. Could this affect it later? It got bent while installing the CPU cooler.
As long as the solder on the bottom is fine it should run fine. That thing is a casing anyways to protect what ever's inside just from similar accidents. Think it maybe a capacitor. The solder is hard to remove by hands you really gotta yank on em so i think you should be fine.
It was nearly broken, but I saw it. I adjusted it back to where it belonged, though it still showed a trace of the change.

I’m hesitant to open it up again because unmounting the cooler and reattaching it is quite challenging. Here are some CPU cooler photos taken from outside. I decided to unmount this cooler today since the CPU temperatures were too high—idling at 50°C and rising to 60°C during inactivity. The maximum temperature reached was 69°C while gaming. It’s a 115x mount and supports AM4, but my CPU is an 8600K model. Although it looked good and was very affordable ($10), it almost damaged my motherboard.
Invest in quality components with a warranty included. The number of times I used warranty claims on my gear has made a big difference. For example, I had a Zotac 780 that failed after its fifth year, even though it was past the warranty by two days. They kept it for two weeks and gave me a 980ti instead. That day I was really pleased, still using that 980ti today. I also replaced the thermal paste on it, which helped reduce the temperature drop while gaming by 10 degrees.
