I really wished I could afford ARMA III. It looks too bad, but it’s amazing—I enjoy playing it with friends. Heroes & Generals is a solid World War II (around the 1930s) FPS. I spent around 150 hours on Steam before it became repetitive.

If you're seeking a realistic shooter, I suggest Insurgency. Arma 3 can be overly technical and confusing unless you're willing to invest time mastering it. The only reason I’d purchase it is for tactical battlefield or king of the hill mods. I wouldn’t recommend Red Orchestra 2 because it’s riddled with bugs. As mentioned, I’d go with Insurgency until then—or if you prefer the classic SOCOM titles.

ARMA would be the most accurate option available right now. By the way, you'll need a powerful computer to run it smoothly and achieve high frame rates.
