I own a Dell T7810 workstation motherboard and need a regular power adapter. I discovered that the pin layout on the 24-pin cable differs from what I have used before, making it unreliable. Online tips haven't helped me so far. Could someone assist me with this issue?

Use a depinning tool and a multimeter if available. Check each pin on the current PSU with the multimeter while it's still connected. Record voltage levels (keep track of the clip side) to verify your setup. Remove the existing connector, then harvest power from standard 24-pin connectors and place them where required. Assuming the image is accurate... The 12Vb line stays active even when the system is off. It may work with the existing 5Vb line. There are numerous 12V connections in that port—at least five compared to two in a typical ATX layout, so you’ll need to either bridge the lines or pull power from a 6-pin PCIe cable.

I tried but it didn’t function properly and the RAM was overheating, making it impossible to reach it, so I powered down the computer.

I clarified the task by asking for more details and then provided a revised version that addresses your concern.

Followed the instructions in the picture completely for the connectors, received a DC to DC converter from 5v to 12v for the backup cables.

The information provided does not specify what HWInfo states about the voltages it is observing. Please ensure you include the relevant document or clarify if additional context is needed.

I noticed the CPU cable also requires changes in the image you shared. The 12V cable isn’t used in the T7810, but standard power supplies include a 12V cable—so I removed that wire. Now the RAM isn’t heating up, yet the CPU isn’t receiving power and there’s still no display.

SSH or VNC or another remote tool is available. If you're having trouble getting any output, do you have a working power supply to replace or is this more of a repair attempt?

I own a brand new Fantech Shadow PSB 550 PSU and am working on adapting it for use with this T7810 workstation. Updated: May 25, 2024 by CloudX Including Image
