I was attempting to upgrade my parent's desktop to Windows 10 while they were at home for Thanksgiving. Before installing Windows 10, I made sure their system was fully current by checking updates. I launched Windows Update, began installing all 47 available patches, and let it run. The next day I returned and noticed the process was still active, only adding language packs. I stopped the remaining updates and restarted the computer because it seemed unusually slow and sluggish. After restarting, I saw a message asking if the update progress was normal—it was progressing quickly, but I expected it to take at least another day to complete. Thanks!
I wasn’t certain about it. I haven’t encountered a Windows update requiring so many files or resources during a restart before. Also, I don’t own a W7 system—I just moved from XP to 8 and then to 10.
