It's available on the Xbox PC Game Pass 2023-9-5. I'm considering it if I can earn another 3000 MS reward points by then and get the pass for free. I'm hesitant to spend an extra $90 on Steam right now since I already own around 175 games that haven't been played yet. The minimum requirements suggest a GTX 1070ti, so I'd like to test it out for free before investing more money.
Bethesda remains a favorite in my eyes even with the Fallout 76 setback—though it certainly had its flaws, and many aspects still felt unworthy. Starfield, on the other hand, impresses me greatly. The demos a few months back left a strong impression, and as long as it doesn’t have major issues at launch, I’m optimistic. It’s one of my most reliable Western developers personally, which makes this even more exciting. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll rely on Armored Core, so we’ll find out (hopefully).
I no longer buy items in advance unless I’m really into a special collector version. I’m moderately excited about it. Probably playing it on XB rather than PC, since my wife prefers games with big story elements.
Bethesda's quality has been slipping for a long time and F76 was a disaster so I see no reason to get hype for a game made by devs that still need to prove they can dig themselves out of a hole instead of further into it.
I completely dismiss any Bethesda titles not developed by their subsidiaries. They tend to release mediocre products that only become tolerable when players end up making mistakes the developers won’t fix. Outdated graphics, uninspired art, terrible gameplay, and repetitive quests or environments that waste time all add nothing meaningful to the experience. Also, pay attention to how little praise Bethesda gives for storytelling, or how conspicuously they lack it. Their worlds are shallow, just like a child’s pool, and I have no idea why anyone would care about them.
I’m eager to give it a shot, though I won’t purchase it. It’s offered for free on day 1 with GamePass.
