I was adjusting my C64 motherboard and missed turning off the power button, which now shows only a black screen. I remember it functioned before, but I removed the SID module; sadly, the PLA isn’t connected. Did I ruin something?

I needed to fix it and there was a big memory issue with a glitching, warning message. A RAM chip was overheating too.

It seems the chip overheated likely caused it to fail internally. You’d need to remove the solder and swap in a new RAM module. If you do that, desolder the old one and test with a multimeter—look for continuity between its voltage and ground pins. Very low resistance means the RAM is no longer functional and should be replaced.
