It's normal to apply a thermal paste recently, especially if you've used a cooling solution.

It seems unusual if it's running at idle. Are you certain the cooler is properly connected to the CPU? Those standard coolers can break easily, and high idle temps often point to a faulty mount. What were your temperatures before you replaced the thermal paste? Do you have sufficient airflow in your system?

Possible causes include:
1. Incorrect thermal paste application
2. Cooler not properly installed
3. Low-quality thermal paste
4. CPU requires removal
5. All of the above
