I like to pick what to install. I don’t want anything unnecessary or low-quality.

It has always worked smoothly from XP through to versions 7 and 8.1.

I have it set to Notify Only, but I install them all as soon as it pops up every month, I don't have Microsoft Updates enabled that's what gives you the Bing bloat, I always end up installing them all and by doing them manually I can just take 10 mins out to install them when it's convenient compared to shut down taking longer later on.

I allow Windows updates to occur automatically if available. If not, I disable the automatic update feature. I usually prefer official Windows versions now.

Windows updates frequently lead to stability and performance problems. They also consume storage space without any clear justification. If you're directly online, it's best to proceed with them. But if you're connected via a network access point, updates become unnecessary.

Following a problematic KB that disrupted video playback, I no longer enable it automatically; instead, I handle it manually each time I select it.
