Good afternoon everyone and happy Sunday.
I have a minor concern regarding my second-hand purchases.
Recently, I bought an RX 570 4GB Gaming X GPU. When running games, it only uses up to 65w or 70w of power. However, I notice frequent jolts and significant FPS drops whenever the power drops to 30 or 20 watts. The GPU remains at full usage, yet the power issue persists.
I own a 500w certified 80 Plus power supply. I’ve confirmed the BIOS hasn’t been altered, there’s no bottleneck, and the PSU appears brand new. There’s nothing I can do to increase its consumption. I’ve even tried undervolt and overclocking, but only gain up to 15 or 20 watts extra—though these results are unstable.
During gaming sessions, the temperature never exceeds 50ºC, rarely reaching 56º or 58º. I’ve seen videos suggesting it could go as high as 75º, but with this GPU it doesn’t happen.
The only time the GPU reaches 120W is during a FurMark stress test. Otherwise, I consistently experience an underpowered GPU in games.
I’m unsure what to do next and am considering contacting the warranty department.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
