You're considering whether to upgrade to a 3200MHz RAM kit or stick with your current 2400MHz DDR4. Given your usage—1080p at 144fps and heavy VR gaming on the Oculus Rift—it's likely you'll need more bandwidth. A 3200MHz upgrade could provide a noticeable boost, but only if it meets your performance needs. Since you're budget-conscious and prioritize essential upgrades, a 3200MHz kit might be worth the investment if it delivers tangible benefits for your workload.

3200 seems ideal, not needing 3600. 2400 is too low; 3200 is optimal. Above that, big FPS gains won't be substantial unless you get a good 3600 kit. Found an edited version from March 21, 2020 by noxdeouroboros.

Performance improves with higher memory frequency, though the cost might not justify the extra 50-60 dollars. YouTube has many comparisons—searching for videos that highlight the differences is straightforward. Don’t be lazy. Here are the initial charts from around 14:00.

There won't be huge FPS boosts when jumping from 3200 to 3600. If you locate a good-priced 3600 build, then it's worth trying.

Usually they're nearly identical in cost, which is why he should purchase the 3600MHz memory.

Receive 3200 units next. If it exceeds 3000, it's acceptable unless it's CL19 or even higher than that.

many mistakenly purchase 3600mhz cl18 kits, thinking their latency matches that of a 3200mhz cl16. getting the cl16 at 3600mhz would cost roughly an extra $12.
