Using the Epson Scan app with an Epson Perfection V37 displays scanned documents with edges trimmed (top, bottom, left, and right). Each scan shows one cropped edge, and the cropping seems to occur without a specific option. There is no setting available to resolve this issue. How can this be fixed? Tnx

There is no auto detection feature in the Epson Scan app. In Professional Mode there is only a Document Size setting. The standard is already configured for an 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper size. None of the documents I have scanned exceed this size, and some are even smaller, causing them to be cropped.

To remove the Epson software, try VueScan. It's available for free use for a limited period without buying a license. Make sure you're also using the latest drivers and software from the official Epson website. There is also a relevant question on the Epson site that might help: https://epson.com/faq/SPT_B11B207201~faq...6127275084

Adjusting the document three millimeters from the designated position arrow did not produce any changes. I attempted another driver update, but it seems Epson does not offer driver updates separately. The installation tool downloaded a new version of the Epson Scan app along with the driver. It was discovered that the issue had worsened significantly.

Initially, when launching the app, it showed the message “cannot communicate with the scanner” without any error code. Closing and restarting the app did not fix the issue. However, restarting the PC temporarily resolved it. After applying the update, the communication problem persisted even after a restart. The Epson Scanner app now appears completely non-functional. It’s worth noting that the Epson website does not confirm compatibility of the downloaded driver with Windows 11. This might be contributing to the ongoing difficulties? I intend to run the System File Checker tonight to check for OS errors. If unsuccessful, I will proceed with the vuescan.

It would have been beneficial to know you were using Windows 11 from the beginning. This is highly probable to be a compatibility issue that needs fixing by Epson if they intend to support this scanner in version 11.

At first, I didn’t think Windows 11 posed a problem. The Epson website didn’t show any warnings about W11 issues. I thought they’d have added a note if they wanted to be polite. No one else mentioned the change. Now I’m wondering if Vue Scan works with W11 or if I’ll need a different scanner. By the way, I was able to fix the PC-to-scanner communication issue by restoring the system. The Epson Scan app still works for cropping documents. I only noticed it can’t scan at all in other modes—only Full Auto Mode does. Tonight I plan to install Vue Scan. Thanks for your assistance.

The removal of Epson software in favor of Vuescan caused it to fail connecting with the Epson Perfection V37 scanner. The system showed the error window described below.
