I'm not like that; my parents help me with my studies. I'm lucky enough to think about those who face challenges. Remember, some students also have to pay for their own living expenses, and in certain places, salaries are very low. For them, 20 dollars a month is a big amount. Don't forget about student loans in the U.S.—studying there is already costly, and adding a $240 annual fee just to fund projects makes it even harder. Those students can't afford cheap drinks either; telling them to stop drinking shows they're not thinking about their future. I don't think they have time for that. CC isn't the only expense—subscriptions and books add up too. Costs can increase quickly.
In CS6 I noticed the software being pirated, so I used to pay before CC launched because I was younger and couldn’t afford it for personal use. Now with CC it’s affordable, which is fair. After using pirated versions, I’ve come to appreciate the paid version, making them a paying customer. Still, most of the time I understand they’re not right.
Perhaps Adobe offers a discounted rate of $20 per month for verified students, requiring proof of enrollment, rather than the current $50 fee.
The $20 a month is actually quite reasonable. Students often have to cut back on small expenses to earn that amount each month. If you're serious about becoming a designer, you can still manage it by making those adjustments. Those who can afford it can treat themselves to new earbuds, a phone, or a night out. Taking away any one of those options would still leave plenty left over.
