Hi there,
The temperatures for your Lian li galahad ii 360, i9 14900f, and Aorus Elite ax z790 are as follows: default max temps were 93°C before contact frame, dropping to 77°C after undervolting. With Thermalright contact frame, the max temps are 85°C under the same settings.
Is this more related to a contact frame problem or thermal paste performance? (I applied a lot of paste)

I tried to give you a clear idea of what you mean by a fair amount. A picture of the thermal paste would be very useful. It seems like the paste might not have been reapplied properly, possibly causing bubbles during installation between the CPU's IHS and the cooler's plate, which could be due to an uneven mount. Could you share the make and model of your case? Also, what is the orientation of the AIO in that setup?

I re-applied possibly too much paste and attempted to reapply it twice. I don’t have more thermal paste left for removal, but I followed jayztwcents’ advice, so a fair amount is quite a lot.
I own a Corsair 3000d case with an AIO.
I’m a bit sorry about playing around with it—I hope I didn’t damage anything 😅

I attempted two approaches:
1. I tightened until it was difficult to maintain, then turned it around about 90 degrees.
2. I tightened gradually (to ensure uniformity) until it became extremely firm.
Both methods produced identical outcomes.
