You've adjusted the settings on your ASUS X16 with a Mediatek Wi-Fi card, and everything seems to be working smoothly now. It appears that the issue wasn't with the card itself but rather with how it was configured. The problem might have been caused by the card's tendency to switch between 5GHz and 2.4GHz modes unexpectedly. Switching between these bands can sometimes lead to instability, especially if the card isn't optimized for your specific environment. Overall, it seems you've resolved the issue successfully.

I've experienced similar problems, but they often result in ping spikes rather than a full disconnect.

my laptop struggles with switching connections, and in areas with weak 5G signal (like my concrete-floored house), RDP sessions often drop completely. i fixed it by using a dedicated 5G network only, and since i installed a new Wi-Fi adapter, everything works smoothly now. likely the new adapter avoids forcing 5G when needed.
