Yes, ARMA III performs well.

It's ideal when you have someone to join (usually a group of players) and you're comfortable with a relaxed, slow-paced battle style. Picture a more traditional open-world insurgency setting. You'll definitely need a 5GHz processor to handle it smoothly. I recommend going with insurgency rather than Arma. Insurgency costs just $5.
I'm the first person I've ever met who has backed up Arma 3 and found it runs quite smoothly. I made a change to get a 5GHz processor and it would easily outperform your older setup. It only uses one core, so even a modern Pentium would struggle. Arma 3 is honestly the worst performance I've experienced on my PC without any hesitation. It's not bad, but unless you're okay with low frame rates, it's a real letdown. Or maybe you have someone with a powerful server, since the game depends more on the network than the hardware.
Enjoyful gameplay with friends on a King of the Hill server. Speed isn't great, but at 2500k and 970 it runs smoothly.
i don't focus on arma3's performance at all. it falls far short of expectations, and no one who has played it agrees otherwise. of course, pushing it to 5ghz on this title will easily beat my 4770 specs—though that spec doesn't matter. in other words, water is wet, and it doesn't alter the reality that i can consistently hit 40-60fps with my cpu in arma. saying you need a 5ghz processor to make the game run isn't accurate at all.
Looking for smooth performance typically requires around 45fps or higher. A scenario like an open field with two enemies would benefit from stable 40-60fps play. Recording in a city setting at that frame rate is challenging, especially on average hardware. While some friends might have better servers, most PC gamers wouldn’t find Arma worth recommending beyond a price point of about ten dollars.
Yep! It's currently my favourite game! There are many different online gamemodes to pick from and also a single player campaign! In regards to online game modes, you can do things such as deathmatches, survival, Zeus mode and more! My personal favourite is AltisLife. You role play as a citizen on the island (Altis, which is based off a real island - Lemnos) and make money and do activities. You can be a cop, a medic, civ, hobo or rebel. It's great! And the best part is that there isn't one main dedicated server. Most (if not all) servers are community hosted, so you can find a community which suits you. Personally, I play on the biggest Altis Life community which can be found by searching "altis life" into google and clicking the first link. (Trying not to advertise here ) Most game modes don't require mods / downloads, but some servers might have DLCs enabled or extra mods to enhance gameplay. There are also other mods which are entire game modes in themselves! Overall, it's a great game and you should buy it on sale! I have an i7 960 with GTX 970. Singleplayer with high setting im hitting 70 fps. Online with medium setting im hitting around 20 - 30 fps, with some drops in cities or when with lots of players.
Hey there! I think this game is totally worth the time. After getting comfortable with the controls, you’ll really enjoy it. I believe each time you play Arma III, you’ll have a fresh experience. The game offers a lot of flexibility—if the developers had polished the code even more, I’d have spent $100 on it. Because of its open-ended nature, you can do anything with it. I even started learning the SQF language just to customize this game, and it’s been really helpful. As I mentioned before, the optimization could have been a real turning point. At first it felt a bit daunting with all the new elements, but once you adapt, you’ll be hooked. It’s an incredible experience with friends, unlike any other FPS you’ve tried. Whether you’re escaping from OPS missions or running illegal operations on Altis Life, it keeps you fully engaged. I suggest checking out the Dslyecxi YouTube channel for tips and guides while you wait for the download. Also, explore those mods—switch them on or off with your launcher or PlaywithSix once you’re ready. This game is a steal for $24 and offers a lot of value! Let me know if you check it out on Steam.
