I noticed that comment on the PCMR Reddit thread. It got me thinking about how booting works. Would adding more devices—like extra drives, PCIe slots, or USB ports—actually slow things down because it checks more components? Not sure if I'm misunderstanding.

Yes, it may lengthen boot time considerably based on your setup. This is usually not an issue for regular home computers since PCIe lane limits apply, but on workstations and servers it can become substantial.
