I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 9 5900X, but the CPU cooler stayed stuck. After some effort, I managed to detach both and install the new CPU. The cooler was placed on, paste applied, and the PC booted up. Fans spun, RGB lit, but monitors and peripherals didn’t power on. I then tried using the old CPU—it worked identically. Did this damage my motherboard?
The computer was functioning earlier today with the Ryzen 5 2600. Now it seems to be different.
You can remove the CMOS battery or connect the jumper provided on the board. For more details, refer to the support page: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-GAM...own-manual. After installation, update the BIOS to accommodate the new CPU: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-GAM...#down-bios https://us.msi.com/support/technical_det...IOS_Update
I question the availability. It typically appears in the small accessories pack and often gets misplaced. Good to know you highlighted that. I hadn't meant to mention it.
