Poor WiFi connections won't provide strong signals, whereas Ethernet remains consistently reliable (unless the cable is damaged or too weak). Speeds on 5GHz are similar to gigabit LAN today, but only when conditions are optimal. Whenever feasible, I suggest opting for a wired setup.

They mentioned Ethernet is usually the best choice. The Wi-Fi quality varies based on the wireless chip they have on the device. A few come with integrated chips that work poorly, like the B450i gaming model.

For gaming, I haven’t seen major problems switching from Ethernet to Wi-Fi, particularly with 802.11ac. Adding a NAS to the network sometimes caused issues, making it inconvenient. For gaming purposes, especially with MMOs and looter shooters like Destiny, Wi-Fi has always worked well for me. My router is on the upper floor while my PCs are scattered throughout the house. My main PC even has built-in Wi-Fi on the motherboard, so I face no issues. Watching streams smoothly is a given. The experience, though, can differ from person to person.
