This would only become important if your system reports an issue with mmx64.efi being absent. It's possible but not typical on my machine. You might need to follow the steps I mentioned before a USB boot in any mode other than legacy support works. With UEFI activated, the system would indicate that /efi/boot/mmx64.efi is missing. I obtained this file from an Ubuntu ISO USB drive formatted as FAT32 using a program like 7-zip, then copied it to the root directory on the drive. You can download the Ubuntu ISO and open it in 7-Zip, moving /efi/boot/mmx64.efi to /efi/boot. If successful, you should be able to boot from that USB drive. It's strange, but it starts up automatically in UEFI mode.

Only the main distributions such as Ubuntu include a digital signature. Several "offshoots" lack it. Even with Ubuntu, booting in UEFI won't work if you use a kernel outside its repos (like a Xanmod kernel).

My basic grasp of UEFI is still developing. At first, I turned off secureboot and removed the encryption keys. However, my old HP notebook kept showing errors about the missing /boot/efi/mmx64.efi file unless I used legacy support mode.
