My GPU failed after shutting down in one PCIe slot, and after cleaning my PC I checked both PCIe slots but got no signal. When I used a 2x PCIe Wi-Fi card it worked in all slots. I'm expecting a new GPU next Wednesday and want to confirm compatibility.

If the slot supports a Wi-Fi card, it should also support a GPU. Because the card is only double the width, you can't be completely sure it works in quad bandwidth, but the GPU should function even if the slot is limited to double width. PCIe standards are quite adaptable. A card that fits a single channel will work in a wider slot, and vice versa. A PCIe 4.0 card can operate in a lower version slot as well. Nonetheless, given that your Wi-Fi card functions, it's unlikely the port is faulty.
