Your question is clear. I think it would help if you considered both options. Running at 50-60fps in ultra settings can feel smooth but may limit visual quality, while higher settings with more frames per second often improve performance and image clarity. It depends on your hardware and what you value most—smoothness or maximum fidelity.

It only counts if you're working with a monitor set to higher frequencies.

It really varies from person to person. Personally, I enjoy 60 FPS in most games like Arma III and Insurgency. That's a big improvement over the 30 FPS I had before.

It varies by preference. I’d choose the higher options with marginally improved FPS. This gives me a bit more room before the frames fall below my screen’s refresh speed.

I can run Doom 2016 on ultra using Vulkan at 4K and 60 frames per second for extended periods.

Ensure the input stays within your screen's maximum frequency. 60Hz equals 60 frames per second. Don't exceed that.

I actually like it! It’s a smart investment. The CPU stays around 30%, the GPU runs at full capacity, and the fan is working hard. De-lidded the i7 and things have improved a lot—temperatures are now much better. Except for the GPU, which still feels a bit intense. That’s mostly my responsibility.
