Delay or lag? I'm concerned. I don't fully understand the difference. It can't be that bad, can it? My current monitor and 21:9 display would handle 76hz without any issues. I've used it before and it didn't really affect my experience. Not really focused on this, but I won't blame my performance on a monitor.
Having owned the ROG Swift (144hz, TN. Gsync) and now the Acer X34 (100hz, IPS, Gsync), here's my take-- ROG TN panel had great colors, never once did I feel like I was sacrificing picture quality for performance. The X34 is immersive and the experience is that much better when the game supports the native resolution (not all games do). Yes, I can tell the difference between 144hz and 100hz but 100hz is still WAY better than 60hz. I would never outfit a gaming computer with anything less than 100hz if I had the option.
I adjusted my competitiveness level to a 6 out of 10 on the scale from 1 to 10. At 144Hz I’m satisfied but might struggle to maintain performance. I don’t believe I can sustain it without losing too many frames, and I doubt it will deliver the desired experience. Some people claim 21:9 isn’t ideal for gamers, but it actually offers better field of view and immersion in the games I play.
I also appreciate visuals and vibrant colors. I can't keep hiding my preferences. My parents won't allow me to play rated M titles. I understand, but for now I'm focusing on SWBF and possibly SWBF2017 when it releases in fall 2017. Overwatch is an alternative, though it seems quite intense to me.
I noticed that. I thought the 29UM58-P might be a better choice since it supports 75Hz and costs a bit less. It was $180 used. I don’t plan to buy an AMD card anytime soon—just doesn’t seem likely.
