Build: CPU - AMD Ryzen 9300, Motherboard - Asus Rog Strix b550 f gaming, SSD - Samsung EVO 870 1tb 2.5, RAM - Corsair Vegeance LPX DDR4 CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 (Ver5.30), 2x8gb, GPU - ASUS Dual OC Radeon RX 6500 XT. I’m facing a POST issue where the yellow VRAM lights up when the PC starts. I’ve checked everything myself but haven’t found a solution. Tried replacing RAM sticks, motherboard, and even swapped the GPU card, but the problem persists. Readers suggest pulling the CPU out and reinserting it or replacing the GPU. I’m unsure if the CPU or GPU is the cause. Any advice would be appreciated.

It might be the processor that is improperly connected or defective, occasionally causing the DRAM indicator to illuminate (distinct from VRAM).

Adjusting the heatsink too much can trigger the DRAM indicator. For CPU cooler installation, aim for a secure fit but avoid over-tightening. A slight extra turn—about 1/16 to 1/8 of a rotation—may suffice. Vary the tightening across different areas rather than concentrating force in one spot. For high-pressure mounts, rotate the heatsink in sections of no more than 1.5 turns before snugging, then apply a light final adjustment. After reassembly, test again to confirm the issue is resolved.
