I purchased new RAM and installed it on my PC, but the XMP profile isn't functioning. It's currently set to 4600 MHz on DDR4, though it should ideally run at 4000 MHz in compatibility mode with Infinity Fabric. The specifications are available here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MVx6GP
When I enable auto it reaches 3200 MHz, but I think I need to overclock to hit 4000 MHz since the motherboard specs say: I searched for useful guides but found nothing reliable, only outdated info about 4 DIMMs, up to 128GB, DDR4 speeds ranging from 4600 to 4266 MHz.
For DDR4 it's great, yet the GSKill Tridentz DDR5 sticks at 8200 MHz – some serious performance leap!
Increasing the clock speed relative to CAS ratio brings better performance, with 7.5ns first word latency being the best I've observed so far.
seek faster performance from hynix dies paired with next-gen Ryzen APUs and maybe Arrow Lake. It seems we’re stuck between 8000-9000 stable on Intel 13th/14th gen and Zen 4 APUs, so why invest in extra RAM? You’d need to push them above 5000 to see real gains from desync FCLK, given their likely 16Gb bit capacity. They could also be dual-rank Hynix 8Gb DDR, but that’s probably around 5200+ and tops out near 1.7V or 1.9V. Cutting them down to ~4000 would essentially negate the value of those high-end chips. For dual-rank OEM Samsung DRAM or Hynix DDR3, you’d get better performance without the same tuning headaches. Those dies are mainly useful for Ryzen APUs because they can handle ~5000Hz with minimal adjustment, and even then you might need some FCLK tuning to reach 4600 or 5000.
That's understandable, but achieving closer to 4600 while running a 1:1 setup is challenging. I've already secured the necessary components, which are affordable and widely available locally. The ones I'm planning to use are reasonably priced. However, I'm still curious if it's feasible to reach around 4000 in coupled mode performance.
Tested the 4600 XMP settings but encountered crashes and occasional posting issues. No alternative XMP profiles available. Adjusted the memory clock and cache clock to 2000 in Ryzen Master, yet performance remains at 3200 in Task Manager.
