It seems you're considering selling your I3 8100 and looking for the best and most affordable I5 right now. You're also curious about why your motherboard won't accept an I3 and what the cheapest I5 options are today.

It appears to be typical. Intel provides an XMP "QVL" spreadsheet here https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...e-xmp.html. There’s no i3 listed, suggesting XMP isn’t applicable to i3 models. Still, why the performance drop? Also, I’m skeptical about noticeable differences between 2133 and 2400 with just this component.
