Hey there! I’m trying to add 8GB of RAM to my system, but I have a concern. Currently I have two 4GB Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz CL15 modules on a B350 Tomahawk board. I came across some budget HyperX Fury 3000Mhz CL15 units and wondered if XMP profiles would still apply since their specs are quite similar. Also, I don’t need to worry about manual overclocking—just making sure they hit the 3000Mhz target works out. Thanks in advance for any help! If you have a link to a relevant discussion, that’d be great.
I'm sure Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz works well at 3200MHz. Also, it's possible to configure both brands to run at different frequencies.
Sorry for the delay, I was getting bitten by a mosquito. My AC seems to suck them away like a vacuum cleaner. I assumed it was a B450M, but it’s already 8:30 AM and I haven’t even gotten to bed yet!
A software update might address the problem. I plan to purchase a 3300X/1600AF later this month along with an 8GB RAM kit, which would be necessary. If not, can I confidently buy the same RAM kit and perform XMP/manual overclocking while ensuring all slots are filled?
The latest update includes improvements, and at 3300x it could function well due to enhanced RAM support.
RAM arrived quicker and I attempted installation to check compatibility. It functions properly with manual overclocking at 2800Mhz CL16 and 1.35V initially. This meets my needs, so pushing further frequency isn't necessary. Used stock BIOS; model B350 Tomahawk, R3 with 1200 OC'd to 3.9ghz. The memory sticks are CMK8GX4M2C3000C16 and CMK8GX4M2C3000C15, 2x4 + 2x4. Updated the post as it could assist others.
Hi, I own a Thermaltake ToughRAM 16GB (8x2, 3200MHz) and a HyperX Kraken 8GB (3200MHz). I tried enabling XMP but it didn’t help, so I went into safe mode and turned off XMP. If I overclock manually, could it improve performance? What frequency should I aim for? My PC has been running fine for a year, but it’s stuck at 2400MHz instead of utilizing the full RAM speed. Please advise.
